قال العميد دكتور الطاهر أبو هاجة مستشار القائد العام للقوات المسلحة أن إستمرار المظاهرات بطريقتها الحالية ما هي إلا إستنزاف مادي ونفسي وذهني للبلاد واهدار للطاقات والوقت، فيما لا جدوى منه، مضيفاً أن هذه المظاهرات لن توصل البلاد إلى حل سياسي، وأكد أبو هاجة أن التوافق الوطني والالتفاف حول قضايا البلاد العليا والحوار هو الطريق الأوحد نحو إستقرار السودان.
وقال الطاهر أن هنالك أيادي خفية تحاول جر البلاد نحو الفوضى وهي لا تريد لا إنتخابات ولا ديمقراطية، وإنما تريد فترة إنتقالية إلى ما لا نهاية مشيراً إلى أن هذه الجهات مرصودة ومعروفة ولن يُسمح لها بأن تجر البلاد إلى الهاوية وتطبيق مخططات الخراب التي نفذت فى دول أخرى وذلك لتقسيم السودان وتفتيته.
