ترأست وزيرة الخارجية مريم الصادق المهدي، اليوم عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، الاجتماع الوزاري الطارئ لدول الإيقاد للتباحث حول تطورات الأزمة بين فصائل الحركة الشعبية في المعارضة بجمهورية جنوب السودان الشقيقة.
وشكرت الوزيرة وزراء خارجية دول الإيقاد والشركاء الدوليين من الترويكا والاتحاد الأوروبي وبعثة الأمم المتحدة في جنوب السودان UNMISS ،على حرصهم واهتمامهم بسلام واستقرار الإقليم وتفعيل دور الإيقاد الريادي في حل أزمات الإقليم وسرعة استجابتهم لعقد الجلسة الطارئة لإيجاد حلول عاجلة لاحتواء الأزمة.
وعبرت عن قلق السودان حيال الأحداث الأخيرة بين فصائل الحركة الشعبية في المعارضة، مشددة على خطورتها وضرورة ايجاد حلول ودية لما لها من آثار خطيرة على سلام واستقرار شعب جنوب السودان الشقيق.
ودعت رئيسة المجلس الوزاري للإيقاد جميع الأطراف لوقف القتال فوراً واللجوء إلى السبل السلمية لإيجاد حلول لخلافاتهم دون جر البلاد إلى حرب أهلية أخرى لا تخدم مصلحة أي من الأطراف، مؤكدة دعم السودان غير المحدود بصفته رئيساً للإيقاد لتنفيذ اتفاقية السلام المنشطة لحل النزاع في جنوب السودان.
وذكرت، أن رئيس الوزراء عبد الله حمدوك سيقوم بزيارة جوبا في الأيام المقبلة للتباحث مع قادة جمهورية جنوب السودان حول كيفية إحتواء الأزمة وتعزيز الثقة بين أطراف السلام وتنفيذ بنود اتفاقية السلام المنشطة
